The Carousel

Everything happens for a reason.
Is what we say when
we want to believe
there is greater meaning and purpose
in things that shake our inner core.
But what if your mom is diagnosed
with cancer for a third time?
How do you still hold onto hope?

Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise, sunset. Swiftly flow the years.
One season following another. One season following…

You were given this life because you’re strong enough to live it.
I want to love this in so many ways, but on a year like this one
where the news at the other end of the telephone
numbs you so cold that you feel it in your bones.
And yet, here I am. Working the daily grind of 9 to 5
to pay my mortgage and bills, while
I’m constantly wondering, is this all life is?
How do you keep moving forward?

Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise, sunset. Swiftly flow the years.
One season following another. One season following…
