I am joining Jak this year in the Extra Life 2017 Challenge to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This is his fourth year doing the challenge and he has been able to raise $700 for Gillette Children’s Healthcare Speciality over the years. This year, he formed a team––the Cryton Crusaders––to create even bigger impact.
So you might ask, what is Extra Life?
Extra Life is a 24-hour gaming marathon on November 4, 2017. Gamers like me will unite together to celebrate and help the life-saving work that happens at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Gaming? Kate, you’re not a gamer.
Oh, but I am – I love to play table top and board games! While Extra Life originated as mostly a video gaming marathon, over the years the event has transformed to include table top and board games. A couple of weekends ago, Extra Life hosted a table top game weekend in which our team, the Cryton Crusaders, played a lot of Pandemic Legacy together.
24 Hours? Really?!
That’s the plan, but since this is my first year, I make no promises of lasting 24 hours straight. But knowing our team, I know we will reach well beyond 24 hours cumulatively. And the cool thing is, we have already been doing lots of gaming in preparation for this.
Let’s get down to business…
Extra Life is a fun way for my team to support Extra Life’s mission to save and improve the lives of children. Every dollar raised will fund critical treatments, healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, charitable care and more for my local CMN Hospital, Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
Can you help support our efforts?
My personal fundraising goal so far is $100, but our team goal is $1,000. I would appreciate a gift of any amount on our behalf. You can make a one-time gift, or choose to make a small reoccurring gift. Don’t want to donate online? No worries, you can send a check too. Just let me know and we can sort out the details.
If you cannot donate, I completely understand. Feel free to join in on the fun, spread the word or simply follow along on our adventures. We will post photos of our gaming on social media!
All donations are collected securely by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
