A to Z: “Runaway”

“R” Inspiration: “Runaway” by Aurora

When I look in the mirror, I see glimpses of you.
Perhaps I see your smile or shimmer in my eyes.
But then I remember that your irises were blue
and my lips are turned down from my endless cries.

I’ve been lying to myself, thinking you’ll return.
Holding onto each memory like they’re gold.
But this aversion from reality is concerning.
The longer I hold on, the more I lose control.

I don’t know where to go, where I go from here.
I keep running, I am all out of places to roam.
I’m afraid if my memories fade and you disappear,
that I won’t know how to find my way back home.

Aurora became a big hit in the past year. If you have followed her, what is your favorite Aurora song?
